Joe -- You've made it clear where you stand on this: Climate change is dangerous, and we need to act. Here's a chance to follow through. On Thursday, OFA supporters across the country are getting together to gather support for President Obama's Clean Power Plan to reduce carbon pollution from power plants 30 percent by 2030. There's an event in Rolling Meadows -- can you make it? Here are the details: What: Climate change event in Rolling Meadows Where: 1450 Golf Road Rolling Meadows, IL 60008 When: Thursday, August 14th 7:00 pm The New York Times called this plan "the strongest action ever taken by an American president to tackle climate change." Right now, the EPA is asking for public comments about the President's plan. A few weeks back, they held public hearings in four cities where anyone could testify about the proposed carbon pollution standards. OFA supporters showed up, spoke up, and stood up for strong action on climate. That Clean Power Plan drove the Koch brothers' Americans for Prosperity to organize anti-climate rallies around these hearings, as part of the special interest campaign to block the President's plan. Carbon pollution is a big contributor to climate change -- it fuels extreme weather and threatens those who suffer from heart disease and asthma with unhealthier air. The Clean Power Plan is worth fighting for. And if big-spending polluters are going to try to stop this progress, we need to work twice as hard to make it happen.
