NETFLASH: BREAKING NEWS FROM NETWORKWORLD.COM

The latest: Security research company Internet Security Systems
is continuing its legal fight to suppress information relating
to a security vulnerability in Cisco's routers. On Friday, the
Atlanta research company sent a cease-and-desist letter to
Richard Forno, a security researcher who just hours earlier had
posted presentation slides that ISS had at one point planned to
present at the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas.

Start-up to index e-mail, other unstructured content

A new company started by a pair of storage industry veterans
last week announced it is readying an appliance that indexes
e-mail and other unstructured information so it can be searched
and recovered more quickly.

Google now a hacker's tool

Somewhere out on the Internet, an Electric Bong may be in
danger. The threat: a well-crafted Google query that could allow
a hacker to use Google's massive database as a resource for
intrusion.

Novell issues strong answer, counterclaims to SCO suit

Novell fired back strongly against an amended complaint filed by
The SCO Group in its slander of title lawsuit against Novell,
rejecting SCO's claims that it holds the copyright on Unix and
demanding a jury trial. Novell also noted in a filing late
Friday that SCO may be rapidly exhausting its funds.
