Still there are some bright spots to share, including customer growth. This week Washington is unveiling a fix for the banking industry along with a stimulus package to resuscitate the moribund economy. These are necessary temporary boosts -- but for the long haul the economy needs new sources of sustainable growth. We vote for the engineers. Looking inside the MPLS network Visibility into the service providers' networks has always been a bit of a conundrum. The simpler the network, the less there is to look at, and the lower the network functionality. Along with this decreased functionality, there also is a lack of efficiency, and the associated increase in price. Citrix slashing head count Citrix plans to cut 10% of its staff, or about 460 employees, the company said after posting disappointing earnings this week. The move continues a rash of layoffs affecting the IT industry, with companies such as Sprint, Intel, Microsoft, EMC and IBM axing thousands of jobs. Radware looks to optimize virtual environments The buzz around virtualization grew to a roar in anticipation of VMware's annual conference, and application acceleration vendors weren’t absent from the frenzy. In particular, Radware unveiled a new product designed to optimize the performance of applications running in virtualized server environments.
