Will you make a call on Friday?

Organizing for Action
Joe --

Nearly six months ago, a gunman walked into Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, and murdered 20 children and six adults.

Afterwards, we mourned together and promised to do better by our kids. Americans and lawmakers alike swore that they'd seen enough -- we would change our laws and keep dangerous weapons out of the hands of the wrong people.

But instead of passing a bipartisan bill that would have expanded background checks for all gun sales, our legislators let us down. The gun lobby pushed them around, and nine in 10 Americans' voices were ignored.

This Friday, exactly six months since the tragedy in Newtown, OFA supporters across the country will be calling our members of Congress -- will you join in?

Pledge to call Rep. Yvette Clarke and say you're not backing down on preventing gun violence.

Since Newtown, more than 4,800 people have been killed by a gun in the United States.

It's an astonishing number -- one that a vast majority of Americans, including Democrats, Republicans, and NRA members alike all agree that we can and should do something about.

We've got the facts, numbers, and popular opinion on our side. We can get this done, but only if we continue to make our voices heard. The folks fighting alongside us need to know we'll be getting their backs -- and those who are against us need to know we're not going anywhere.

When I think back to that awful day in December, I remember that, just like other parents, all I could do in that moment was hug my kids a little tighter.

The families of Newtown will never be able to do that.

That's why, since that day, I, like a lot of people, decided that I'm not backing down -- for those families and every other family that's been torn apart by gun violence.

And that means we can't let a milestone like Friday pass without doing something -- pledge to make a call to Congress:
