Register Now Ubuntu impresses in test of Linux servers We initially thought commercial goliath Red Hat might dominate in our tests, but in our final tally Ubuntu came out on top. Ubuntu delivered intuitive, uncluttered management tools, excellent hypervisor support, and transparency (commercial and open source versions are one and the same). Canonical also boasts progressive strategic alliances with large cloud providers. Ubuntu is also closely associated with the popular OpenStack platform. Service lets companies manage Amazon Web Services encryption keys KeyNexus, a division of Dark Matter Labs, today announced a secure encryption key-management service that lets organizations store, manage and audit the encryption keys they use in the cloud. Read More Workday rolls out Big Data Analytics module Workday has unveiled a new software module for its cloud-based HCM (human capital management) application that allows customers to analyze data from both Workday and third-party sources. Read More This is about as close as you can get to an Amazon private cloud using OpenStack Cloudscaling's co-founder and now CEO Randy Bias feels strongly that it's important for enterprise private clouds to be architected and act similarly to Amazon Web Services' public cloud. So, Cloudscaling uses OpenStack's cloud platform and puts AWS-like features on top of it. The third version of Cloudscaling's Open Cloud System (OCS), numbered 2.5, was released this week.
