| Joe -- Good news: Last night, Congress announced a bipartisan deal on the budget. This is the first long-term budget agreement in years -- and it's a positive first step. It's also a true sign of compromise: meaning no one gets exactly what they want, but shows important progress from the gridlock and political gamesmanship we saw from Congress early this fall. Here's what the deal looks like: It would roll back some of the more painful sequester cuts scheduled to go into effect in January and continues to reduce the deficit. And it prevents the chance of another government shutdown over the next two years -- removing the unnecessary threat to jobs and our economy that we witnessed in October. The House is scheduled to vote Thursday on this plan -- so right now, they need to know we're counting on them to follow through. Add your name to tell Congress we're counting on them to pass the budget and build on this bipartisan momentum. When a small group of House Republicans forced the government to shut down in October, Americans were outraged -- and more than a million OFA supporters spoke out and kept the pressure on until the crisis ended. The bipartisan nature of this budget deal is a clear sign that they noticed. We need that spirit of compromise to continue if we want to actually get things done -- like extending unemployment insurance for the 1.3 million Americans set to lose this safety net at the end of the year. And that's not to mention the other work on the House's plate, like finding a solution that extends the nutrition assistance program -- responsible for feeding struggling families -- and passing comprehensive immigration reform. Right now, it's a good sign that Congress actually listened to the American people and worked together to come up with a long-term bipartisan budget deal. Now it's time to finish the job. Tell Congress to pass this budget deal now: http://my.barackobama.com/Budget-Deal Thanks -- more soon, Nico Nico Probst Director of Special Projects Organizing for Action ---------------- The other side will spend millions to maintain the status quo.
