Today: Call Senator Kirk out on unemployment insurance

Organizing for Action
Joe --

By the end of the week, 109,283 Illinoisans will have lost or been denied access to their emergency unemployment insurance.

Senator Mark Kirk needs to explain why he turned his back on those people.

He said he'd vote to extend this critical safety net if it was paid for, but then he went back on his word. Bipartisan negotiations delivered a way to pay for it, and Senator Kirk voted no anyway.

Call Senator Kirk right now and ask him why he went back on his word. Here's his phone number in D.C.:

    Senator Mark Kirk
    (202) 224-2854

And here's the number for his Chicago office, if you don't get through:

    (312) 886-3506

After you make your call, let us know how it went.

Senator Kirk knows better than this -- he knows that thousands of his constituents rely on this vital lifeline to pay their utility bills and put food on the table while they look for a new job.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has said he hasn't given up on trying to pass an extension of unemployment insurance -- that's why it's so important that people like Mark Kirk hear from the constituents he failed.

Call Senator Kirk's office right now and ask why he voted to leave more than 100,000 people in Illinois out in the cold:
