What is a Security Audit?

Security audits are used to examine a system for compliance to a variety of security standards. These standards can include internal and external security policies, software manufacturer recommendations, legal requirements and known "best practices".

In short, a security audit is an audit of how the confidentiality, availability and integrity of an organization's information is assured. An information security audit is one of the best ways to determine the security of an organization's information without incurring the cost and other associated damages of a security incidence.
