NETFLASH: BREAKING NEWS FROM NETWORKWORLD.COM
By Sheryl Hodge
Security experts at AT&T are about to take a page from CNN's
playbook. Within the next year they plan to begin delivering a
video streaming service, currently going by the codename
Internet Security News Network (ISN), that will carry Internet
security news 24/7, according to the executive in charge of AT&T
Labs.

Hotmail takes a tougher stance on spam
Microsoft is throwing the full weight of Hotmail behind its
Sender ID e-mail authentication technology by sidelining
incoming mail when it fails to pass a Sender ID check. The
software maker has begun warning Hotmail users with an on-screen
alert when the sender of an incoming e-mail cannot be verified
using its Sender ID Framework. Mail that fails to pass the test
will be placed in a junk mail folder or could even be deleted,
according to Craig Spiezle, director of Microsoft's Technology
Care and Safety Group.

XO, Avaya target SMBs with managed IP services
Avaya and XO Communications this week said they plan to
collaborate on managed services packages for small and midsize
businesses. XO will bundle Avaya's IP telephony products with
its networks services and provide a single point of contact for
installation, customer service and billing. XO will offer the
Avaya gear through its XO managed services division, which
provides bundled systems combining customer premises equipment,
networking and professional services.
