Cisco broadens Carrier Ethernet line
Cisco this week is extending its Carrier Ethernet portfolio with a system that allows service providers to deliver fiber-based Ethernet to multi-tenant units, such as apartment buildings.

That's roughly 1.6% of total U.S. electricity consumption and is worth about about $4.5 billion.
