1. Fly-By-Night Web Merchants
Websites that sell this year’s hot products and then ‘disappear’ without supplying the purchased item.
2. Phishing Scams
Copycat websites created to steal sensitive information.
3. Charity Scams
Scammers pose as representatives of charitable organizations to steal money from those ‘donating.’
4. Gift Card Scams
Scammers copy the numbers from cards on display, then call an 800 # to find out the date of activation. They will then spend the money from the gift card online before the real recipient has a chance to use it.
5. Holiday E-Card Scams
Scammers send an ecard that can be viewed by clicking on a link which unleashes anything from spyware and pop-up ads to viruses and Trojans.
