The patches fix two bugs now being used by hackers but leave one still open to exploit. Cisco announces workforce retraining initiative Cisco this week launched a workforce retraining initiative in an effort to create jobs during one of the most economically trying times in American history. Cisco says the pilot program, unveiled in Michigan, was "lauded" by President Obama in a speech at Macomb Community College in Warren, MI. Windows 7: Not Done Yet, but Close Microsoft gave an update on Windows 7 this week, outlining a timeline for the release of the upcoming operating system to manufacturers. The company noted that you shouldn't "believe everything you read on the Internet" and proceeded to set the record straight. Google opens attack on Lotus Notes install base Google Tuesday set its sights on IBM, unveiling a tool to migrate Lotus Notes users to Google Apps and releasing a whitepaper laying out how to migrate Notes applications to Google's online infrastructure. IBM claims top four 'greenest' supercomputers, and 18 of top 19 IBM built the world's fastest supercomputer, and can now lay claim to building 18 of the world's 19 most efficient. Rackspace API gives developers greater access to cloud platform Rackspace Tuesday released an API allowing developers greater ability to create, configure and control virtual servers within the company's cloud computing platform. Microsoft Office 2010 Takes On Google At Its Own Game The surprises from Microsoft just keep coming. The most interesting aspect of this week's Microsoft Office 2010 announcements was that the online web version of Office 2010 apps will be free. That's free from three perspectives.
