Are Janus Friis, Niklas Zennstrom and Mike Volpi the three stooges of tech? It's my personal opinion that Janus Friis, Niklas Zennstrom and Mike Volpi are the three stooges of the tech industry. And why do I believe that? Well, as a trio, they make a good comedy act. For example, it was only 3 years ago that eBay, Skype, Joltid, Friis and Zennstrom were defendents in a complaint accusing them of violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act... Cisco Steps Up to Solve a Problem If you have read my blogs recently you might say I've been a little tough on Cisco. A couple weeks ago I beat up Cisco over their poor "Validated Architecture for Long Distance VMotion". I praised their biggest competitor to Nexus 1000V, Arista. And probably toughest of all, I told people to keep competition in their network to drive down costs. Cisco also backs flattening of data center networks Even though its data center switching competitors say their approach is an alternative, Cisco says it also backs flattening data center networks into two-tier designs from traditional three-tier approaches. Cisco lines up grid partners sans IBM Cisco this week announced an impressive lineup of partners for its smart grid ecosystem. They include, among other players, GE, Oracle, EMC, Siemens, Verizon and Wipro.In all, there are 27 companies in the Cisco smart grid ecosystem. They intend to make their products interoperable for deployment in next-generation IP-based utility communications infrastructures.
