While sounding a bit like Chicken Little, Federal government watchdogs today said that the H1N1 pandemic will cause a significant increase in the use of the Internet by students and teleworkers that would create serious network access congestion. Such problems may need to be fixed by government involvement or service providers limiting network access or by asking people to lay off the streaming videos for a while.

Judge rejects TD Ameritrade data breach settlement
Word comes this afternoon that a federal judge has rejected a class-action lawsuit settlement that would have seen TD Ameritrade escape with less than a wrist slap in an egregious data-breach case that touched as many as six million customers and calls for at least a public flogging. A new IT law has come into force in India that frees Internet portals from liability for third-party content and activity, but also gives the government powers to monitor communications on the Internet, and block web sites that are found to be offensive.
