So it is Interop time in New York City and I was not planning on attending as I have been busy with customers. But, as it happens, I am in New York this week presenting to customers. So, I was asked to come and have breakfast with a group of CXOs (four CEOs, two CFOs and seven CIOs) from New York, and enjoyed a good conversation with them. One of the topics of discussion: discounts. Cisco CEO John Chambers is selectively hiring on certain projects John Chambers was quoted during the Journal's CEO Council meetng this week: "Selectively, we're hiring on certain projects," said John Chambers, chief executive of networking giant Cisco Systems Inc. While most of the hiring is being done in the company's 30 new business ventures, he said some new jobs still tie into the core routing and switching business. Job creation usually lags capital investments... Cisco increases Tandberg bid Cisco has upped its offer for videoconferencing leader Tandberg to $3.4 billion from $3 billion to appease a skittish bloc of shareholders who felt the inital offer undervalued the company. Cisco has also extended the offer deadline to Dec. 1 from Nov. 18, according to this report form the IDG News Service, and said the new price was its final offer.
