Gwabbit was at DEMO last year, offering a great software app that takes contacts from e-mails and self-populates them into Outlook. The company is now heading to the cloud, taking the same technology and putting it in the "gwab-o-sphere", and synchronizing them with Facebook, Salesforce.com and other apps. Read More

Video: Nyoombl's Greypfroot integrates TV and PC videoconferencing
The guys at Nyoombal had some glitches during their on-stage demo at DEMO 2010 today, but the technology is a very cool thing. The emerging technology shows how users can conduct PC to TV, or TV to TV videoconferencing without users needing the same hardware and software at both endpoints. With the TV integration, a call coming in requires just one button to answer (via a remote control). Read More

At DEMO 2010, MiniMash was showing its platform for taking photos, videos and music and turning them into quick and cool mashups for sharing. Mashup creation has been tackled before, but this seems like an easier way to create them. With the rise in photo sharing through social networks, I can see more mashups getting installed and shared via Facebook than just static photo albums. Read More

At DEMO 2010, Vivox had a very good demo of its Voice over IP software that it can add to social applications, including Facebook. Internet TV got a lot of play at DEMO spring 2010 on Tuesday, and one of those demonstrators was GlideTV, which highlighted its new remote control and software to make viewing Internet content and Internet video on a normal or high-def TV. The Future of Big Iron
Do your IT plans include mainframes? Participate in this Aberdeen survey and see how your plans stack up to those of peers in terms of on what core applications are staying on mainframes and where the industry is headed in operating and software architecture. The goal is to get an accurate picture of the opportunity for expanded utilization, the role of 3rd-party support, and overall objectives with respect to distributed, outsourced, heterogeneous and centralized computing paradigms.
