Big companies are so predictable. They often pay probably the most funds for companies that, like them, are also on the verge of undergoing a disruptive change that makes their buy unwise. We're swinging back to the "network is the computer" computing model, 10+ years following McNealey predicted it, and they pick now to drop a huge wad of "casheesh" for some thing that in 5 years will turn out to be fully irrelevant. It's like these large organization dinosaurs attain a point in their lives once they start actively looking for tar pits to sink into.
