Zscaler Releases State of the Web Report for Q4 2010

Sunnyvale, CA, February 28,2011.
Zscaler released its Q4 2010 State of the Web report, which details the enterprise threat landscape and the variety of the web-based issues facing Internet users. Q4 saw shifts in the sources of enterprise web traffic. However, attackers continued to focus on social engineering and circumventing legacy enterprise security systems. Attackers know the limits of traditional security solutions, but they are also very good at taking advantage of emerging technologies and new vectors for attack. Standalone user applications, social engineering, and the move to HTTPS, all have the potential to introduce new threats. Now more than ever, enterprise security solutions must inspect traffic in real time, all the time, regardless of source, to provide true protection.  Download Report

Fake Security Software Websites – Still Popular in 2011
A large number of fake security software websites are still promoting their fake products. Fake security software is a form of computer malware that misleads users into installing and potentially paying for fake security software. The sites convince users to download the malicious software by displaying fake security warnings such as "Your computer is infected" etc. End users are clearly not educated about such attacks, as the campaigns remain highly successful. BanRegioBanco Regional de Monterrey (BanRegio) is a leading financial services institution in Monterrey, Mexico.  With over 100 branch locations and 2,000 users, BanRegio's rapid business growth led to the proliferation of new branches which in turn have created high bandwidth costs due to traffic backhauling for security.

BanRegio's previous solution was a central proxy-based URL filtering solution that did not include a network-based Anti-Virus solution. BanRegio's IT Sub Director, Jose Pequeno Contreras, chose Zscaler as an efficient, cost effective solution for better utilization of its IT resources. Read Case
