During its SDN conference call this week with Morgan Stanley and other participants, Cisco officials talked often about how a "feedback loop" is vital in its vision of a programmable network. This feedback loop would provide analytical data on users, sessions and applications gathered from the network to define policies and orchestration routines to be programmed back into the network. Schools in the U.S. will need broadband speeds of 100 Mbps per 1,000 students and staff members by the 2014-15 school year in order to meet a growing demand for Web-based instruction and a skyrocketing number of student-owned Web devices, according to a new report by a trade group representing state education agencies.
