Joe -- Congress hasn't gotten a whole lot done lately -- a government shutdown that could have been avoided didn't help matters. Now that the shutdown's over, Americans expect Congress to get back to work solving problems, instead of creating them. One issue that folks are particularly passionate about is gun violence prevention. That's why OFA volunteers are holding planning sessions this week to map out our next steps in the effort to pass gun violence prevention. RSVP right now to join a planning session on Thursday in Chicago. Here are the details: What: Gun violence prevention action planning session in Chicago Where: 2314 W. 95th st Chicago, IL 60643 When: Thursday, October 24th 6:30 pm It's been almost a year since the tragedy in Newtown. We saw nine in 10 Americans agree on the need for common-sense legislation to keep our communities safe from gun violence. Yet, Congress has failed to act. After the Senate failed to stand up to the gun lobby, more than one million OFA supporters stood up to say we aren't backing down. At these planning meetings, we'll talk about the best way we can take action at the local level to keep the pressure on Congress. If you care about gun violence prevention, I hope you can make it.
