Joe -- It's easy to think this shutdown debate is over. But if you've been paying attention to the Tea Party for the past four years, you know they tend to repeat their mistakes. And I can tell you that shutting down the government, benching 800,000 federal workers, and doing serious damage to our economy is a path they're ready to go down again. How do I know? Because Ted Cruz said so himself. As the Senate was preparing to finally end the shutdown, he told supporters that the playbook the Tea Party has been using throughout this disaster "is the model I'm going to suggest we take forward." He's not alone. House Republicans are saying that "we indeed will continue to fight," "there are battles to be had," and that if they pull this stunt again "the outcome may well be different." Rep. John Fleming even said that this crisis "will get us into round two. See, we're going to start this all over again." We need you to speak out to make sure that these aren't the only voices that Republicans hear. Tell the GOP that anyone who wants to go back to governing by crisis does not deserve the responsibility of a seat in Congress. I never want to put our veterans, our kids, our sick, our elderly, or our federal workers back in the position they've been in for more than two weeks again. Period. But shutting down the government again seems to be exactly what some Tea Partiers are planning to do.
