Joe -- This week, another 3,427 people will lose their unemployment insurance in Illinois -- and Senator Mark Kirk carries a big part of the blame. After he said he'd work to extend their insurance benefits, he pulled a 180 and voted to leave unemployed Americans out in the cold. Last week, we called his office to make sure he knows how disappointed we are in his vote. Now, with the Senate on the verge of voting again to restore this critical safety net, we're making our voices heard again in a place where he can't miss it. Head on over to Senator Kirk's Facebook page right now and ask him why he went back on his word to vote against extending unemployment insurance for nearly 2 million Americans. Sen. Kirk is one of three senators -- along with Rob Portman of Ohio and Dan Coats of Indiana -- who said they'd work to find a solution, but failed to support the bipartisan agreement. His constituents deserve to know why. Head on over to Senator Kirk's Facebook page and ask him why he's standing in the way of restoring unemployment insurance: http://my.barackobama.com/Mark-Kirks-Facebook Thanks, Nico Nico Probst Director of Special Projects Organizing for Action | |
