Tell us about your letter to the editor:

Joe --

Hope you found some time to write a letter to the editor in support of comprehensive immigration reform -- letters really can make an impact, especially when you know lawmakers and their staff are paying attention.

Take a few minutes and report back on how it went -- whether you got published or not:

And if you haven't finished your letter yet, no need to worry: There's still time to write a letter to the editor of your local paper while your lawmakers are home for August recess.

Thanks,

Subject: Here's a great way to keep the pressure on John Boehner on immigration

Friend --

Earlier this month, we wrote to tell you about the House's cruel vote that threatened to deport the DREAMers.

Since then, folks around the country have been speaking out to remind Speaker John Boehner and House leadership that their job isn't to target young people -- it's to do the right thing for our country and pass comprehensive immigration reform.

Every day the House fails to pass the Senate's bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform bill, it costs us $37 million. You've already stood up to say you're willing to help keep the pressure on leaders like John Boehner.

Today, we're asking folks to help out with a tried-and-true tactic: the letter to the editor.

Take a moment and write a letter to the editor of your local paper -- our tool will walk you through how to get started.

Letters to the editor are an important way to make your voice heard in your community. They've got an important audience, too -- lawmakers and their staff are tracking the letters section. Anyone who cares about solving this issue has a role to play, and the urgency couldn't be clearer.

The other day, someone sent me a video of two DREAMers confronting a member of Congress who has led the calls for their deportation. These were two young adults -- a college graduate and one who wanted to join the military -- who love this country, consider it home, and want to give back to it.

All these two young folks wanted to know was why this member of Congress doesn't want to fix our broken immigration system.

That's a question we all want to know the answer to.

It's about what kind of country we want to be, and what principles we believe in.

The fact is, comprehensive immigration reform will strengthen our economy and our security, protect families, and create jobs.

But John Boehner has refused to act, so it's up to the American people to make it clear there's no other choice.

Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper to let your community know fixing our broken immigration system is the right thing to do:

Jack
