Dear Fellow Conservative, In our tumultuous world, I turn for guidance both to scripture and to the wisdom of our Founding Fathers. The American patriot Samuel Adams, for example, urges us to have faith and be hopeful for the future: And as it is our duty to extend our wishes to the happiness of the great family of man, I conceive that we cannot better express ourselves than by humbly supplicating the Supreme Ruler of the world that the rod of tyrants may be broken to pieces, and the oppressed made free again; that wars may cease in all the earth, and that the confusions that are and have been among nations may be overruled. While more than two centuries have passed since Sam Adams said this, we still fight for the same ideals as our Founding Fathers: freedom and peace. This is proof of the enduring vigor of the American spirit. We have not given up the eternal struggle for freedom, nor have we given up our faith. Just as our Founders persevered and prevailed, so shall we. America was founded of the people, by the people, and for the people. We are a shining city upon a hill. We Americans take it upon ourselves to defend those who cannot defend themselves, to provide for those most in need. That spirit of giving is the true spirit of Christmas and the true spirit of America. Thank you for holding true to the spirit of America. Have a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday season. Sincerely, |
