Trade Preference Agreements and Trade Integration

The recent trade agreement between the US and Mexico is a good example of how trade preference agreements play a fundamental role in trade integration. The new trade relationship between the US and Mexico in sugar establishes a new relationship between both countries, with consequences to other players involved with this commodity.

According to the US Department of Commerce, amongst the dispositions agreed, Mexico shall abide to volume limits for sale of sugar to the US, which shall not be concentrated in certain periods of the year.

Due to its importance and considering that the relationship of both countries can influence trade, we are pleased to have Mr. Michael McDougall, Senior Vice President of Newedge, to debate this subject.
