Ex-Speaker Dennis Hastert Indicted Over $3.5M in Payments

On Thursday BuzzFeed reported the Justice Department indicted former House Speaker Dennis Hastert on reporting evasion charges -- a scheme known as "structuring" -- and lying to the FBI. The indictment accuses Hastert of agreeing to pay one individual $3.5 million. Hastert resigned his position as lobbyist at law and lobby firm Dickstein Shapiro following the announcement, according to The Hill.
