Microsoft has given visitors to Computex 2015 a sneak peek at several new devices that will launch with Windows 10, highlighting the capabilities of the new OS.In a brief preview to manufacturing partners, Nick Parker, vice president at Microsoft’s OEM Division, showed off a new super-portable 11.6-inch, 2-in-1 notebook from Hewlett-Packard’s x2 series that has a magnetic hinge design, Bang & Olufsen speakers and a red anodized finish.He also showed a hybrid 9-inch HP tablet that can attach to a full-size keyboard, which has its own case. Apple's 12-inch MacBook won't reach Thunderbolt 3 data transfer speeds
The super-slim 12-inch Apple MacBook brought a radical design change to laptops with its USB Type-C port, but it won’t support faster Thunderbolt 3 data transfers.Intel at Computex announced Thunderbolt 3 that can transfer data between computers and external peripherals at speeds of 40Gbps, the fastest among connector technologies today. The technology is two times faster than its predecessor, Thunderbolt 2, which is in many Macs today.The biggest changes in Thunderbolt 3 is support for the USB protocol and a move away from proprietary connectors to souped-up USB Type-C ports and cables. Wi-Fi in your home or office could get a big speed boost by the end of this year with Qualcomm's newest chip, which reaches new highs in data transfer speeds.The peak wireless data transfer speeds of the QCA9994 and QCA9984 Wi-Fi chips will reach 1.7G bps (bits per second). Intel shows first Skylake tablet
Intel is drumming up excitement for its upcoming chips code-named Skylake, showing the first tablet based on the architecture during a keynote at the Computex show in Taipei.The tablet had a 4K display that could display images at a resolution of 3840 by 2160 pixels, and was 7.8 millimeters thick.Tablets based on Skylake will be computing powerhouses that will manage high-resolution displays, said Kirk Skaugen, senior vice president and general manager for the PC Client Group at Intel.Skylake will go into tablets, laptops and desktops, including some that are on track to reach the market in the second half this year.Devices based on Skylake could incorporate a number of interesting features, including wireless charging and, in some mobile devices, Thunderbolt 3.0 ports. SanDisk, known for thumb drives, memory cards and internal SSD, has announced its first line-up of pocket-sized, high-capacity external drives.The new line of drives includes four products of varying size, ranging in capacity from 120GB to 1.9TB.
