WiFi Security 101: WiFi Security 101: Lesson 3
from Tony Bradley, CISSP, your Editor and Guide Lesson 2 showed you how to change some of the default settings to provide better security. This lesson will show you two additional steps you can take to make your network even more secure.
Disable SSID Broadcasting
Lesson 2 showed you how to change the default SSID. That won't help secure you for very long if you broadcast your new SSID to any wireless device within range though.
Enable Wireless Encryption
Anyone within the range of your wireless devices and your wireless router or access point could potentially intercept your data as it flies through the airwaves. Encrypt your data to make sure nobody else can read it.
