One thing that became obvious this week at Microsoft’s TechEd conference in Los Angeles is that corporate IT will need to deftly plan and strategize how to deal with an onslaught of Microsoft software in the next 7 to 12 months. Also, Hewlett-Packard has recalled Lithium-Ion batteries used in some of its laptops, as they pose a fire hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said on Thursday. (5:34)

Gigabit Ethernet switches from BLADE on tap at Interop
BLADE Network Technologies will unveil at Interop next week a set of products that includes an “FCoE-ready” 10 Gigabit Ethernet blade server switch with 100 Gig Ethernet of uplink capacity and a virtualization offering that the company says supports more than 1,000 virtual ports. The 100G is achieved by bonding 10 10G Ethernet links, BLADE says.

Google needs some network help
