Reduce Fire Safety Risk in Your Network!

Concerns are rising about the growing number of combustible
cables present in buildings required to service the
ever-increasing demands of IT networks. More workstations are
taxing the infrastructure. These concerns are the thrust behind
new "limited combustible" cables that reduce fire safety risk.

Today's focus: Can you live without Windows?

By Jeff Caruso

Can you live without Windows?

Kevin Tolly this week considers what life would be like on a
desktop operating system other than Microsoft Windows and
without Office 2003.

Face-off: What's the best place to stop spyware?

Once you've made a decision to root out spyware on your
corporate computers, it's really just a question of how. This
week's Face-off tackles that question, with Webroot CEO C. David
Moll arguing that desktops are the right place and Blue Coat
Systems CTO Vilis Ositis arguing that gateways are better.

Journalism turned upside down

Newspapers and other publications have been noodling this Web
thing for years now, but they still have not found the best way
to make money from it. Scott Bradner takes a look at Google,
Amazon and The New York Times - and what a collision among them
might mean for online news.

Survey outlines top concerns

Network World's annual NW500 survey shows that security,
compliance and upgrading data centers are on the minds of IT
managers everywhere. Editor-in-Chief John Dix explains.

Excellent blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers?
I'm hoping to start my own blog soon but I'm a little lost on everything.
Would you advise starting with a free platform
like Wordpress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I'm totally overwhelmed .. Any ideas? Kudos!
