Storm worm spam nearly doubles in volume, 08/22/07: Account confirmation spam is the latest spammer trick, asking recipients to confirm their account information with a bogus organization by logging into a Web site that is infected with the Storm Trojan malware. This latest technique is catching on: Account confirmation spam has grown in volume from 18% of all spam on Tuesday to 35% Wednesday.

'Storm' Trojan horse may turn to hyping Hurricane Dean, 08/22/07: The 8-month old Storm Trojan horse may soon come full circle and take up touting Hurricane Dean, the Category 5 storm that slammed into Mexico Tuesday, security researchers said.

Storm spam poses as site confirmation, 08/22/07: The Storm malware, which first appeared in January of this year, is showing no signs of slowing down -- just this week reinventing itself as a Web site membership confirmation message.

FTC stops e-mail marketing of weight-loss products, 08/23/07: A U.S. district judge has ordered a company to stop sending unsolicited e-mail marketing weight-loss and anti-aging products that allegedly did not work, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission announced Thursday.

SpamSieve update targets attachments, 08/20/07: The antispam utility SpamSieve has undergone an update that creator Michael Tsai says will improve accuracy for e-mail messages containing attachments. SpamSieve 2.6.4 also fixes a bug that could cause crashes when processing messages containing PDF attachments.

Refurb and spam headaches, 08/16/07: What a couple of weeks it’s been! We’re having the kitchen refurbished so I have plumbers, builders and painters waltzing in and out interrupting me every five minutes. I’m keeping the aspirin close at hand and perhaps it is the added stress that is making me particularly irritated by spam again.
