Cisco's potential layoff: 2,000 jobs at risk?
At Cisco's analyst conference call on Wednesday Cisco CEO John Chambers hinted that some kind of layoff could be in the works. But if you are looking for a silver lining, maybe it is this: the job cuts should be modest, as part of a normal restructuring in which perhaps 1,500 to 2,000 job will get the kibosh out of Cisco's total current headcount of 67,318. Next post, I'll look at it from a router perspective, which means we'll get into some gory detail on OSPF LSAs again.

Larry Chaffin: Putting the realism into your network:The Cisco SPA525G IP Phone for the UC520 and SMB Market. Wireless and Bluetooth...
The Cisco SPA525G IP phone is a new wired and wireless phone for the SMB market. While it can be used in other settings I see this as a true phone for SMB companies who do not want to run expensive wiring. For those companies who want to add phones this can provide a great value add as it will be eliminate the use of wiring. The mobility of the phone will allow customers to move phones as they see fit and enable employees to be more mobile in the office.

Dennis Hartmann on Cisco Unified Communications: Qualiity of Service: Queuing
In this blog, we will begin to explore the topic of queuing in QoS. The words queue and queuing may be foreign to you at this time because we do not use this terminology in everyday life in the United States. A queue is synonymous to a line. A queue (or line) normally forms because the servicing mechanism is congested. If you go to the bank and wait on line (queue), it’s because there are no available tellers. In data networks, queues form because the output interface is congested (12Mbps cannot fit on a 10Mbps interface. Instead of dropping traffic, routers and switches will queue packets into an output queue and all new packets go through the queuing system.
