Cisco rival Nortel liquidating assets

Nortel this week began an asset liquidation, having failed in its attempt to transform the company into a viable competitor after filing for bankruptcy earlier this year. Nortel sold its CDMA and LTE wireless business to Nokia Siemens and is shopping around its other operations, including the enterprise unit. Read full story

M&A rumors include Cisco, Juniper
A report late Friday (EST) by TheStreet.com has data center M&A activity stirring again, but this time an anticipated prey is now the quarry. Juniper is rumored to be on the prowl for a "data center or storage shop."

Cisco notes changing nature of routers
When asked if the definition of a router is changing -- or if it is still accurate to refer to a hardware platform doing much more processing than routing -- Cisco didn't hesitate. The company pointed to its Integrated Services Router product as an example of how the face -- and personality -- of routers as we know them is changing.
