It's also entertaining to watch all the "experts" come out of the woodwork. Cisco, EMC roll out joint venture The joint venture everyone's been waiting for for the past couple of months has finally arrived. Cisco and EMC have formed a joint venture to "accelerate" the products it develops under it new Virtual Computing Environment coalition with VMware. Cisco, EMC, and VMware… Acadia? Here is something that will certainly cause reverberation in the market. Some of you may have already heard of "Alpine," the codename for Acadia. VMware, Cisco, and EMC just announced that they are joining forces and making significant investments to enable data centers to accelerate the value of virtualization by delivering products (Vblocks), services, and support as a unified team. Cisco, EMC unveil data center joint venture Cisco and EMC this week unveiled their anticipated collaboration, which will provide integrated products and services for customers building private cloud computing infrastructures. Transitioning to the Private Cloud Cloud computing is nothing more than a self-service consumption model where business workloads are deployed and transparently executed, either internally or somewhere on the Internet, and delivered to businesses that only pay for what they consume. Private cloud, internal cloud, and public cloud make for great marketing lingo, but Cisco, EMC and VMware will spin their wheels and waste valuable time... Cisco's data center guru talks direction, strategy As a 13 year Cisco veteran, John McCool, senior vice president and General Manager of Cisco's Data Center Switching and Services Group, has seen a boatload of change.
