Cisco Acquires NDS, Beefs up its Video Portfolio On Thursday March 15th, Cisco announced its intent to acquire privately held, U.K.-based NDS for $5 billion in cash - the company's largest acquisition since it paid $3.4 billion for Tandberg back in early 2010. The acquisition is targeted to provide Avaya's customers an interoperable suite of high-definition video collaboration products, along with the ability to integrate multiple mobile devices such as the Apple iPad and devices powered by Google Android. Plans call for Radvision's enterprise video infrastructure and endpoints to be integrated with the Avaya Aura unified communications (UC) platform.
