| Joe -- When we said we're not letting up, we meant it: The Senate failed to pass a proposal yesterday that would expand background checks for gun sales and keep kids safer, but we're not going to let that be the end of the story. We're getting right back to the hard organizing we know is effective. The fact remains that more than 90 percent of Americans support these common-sense steps to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people, and it's up to us to make sure Congress knows we're not going away. On Saturday, we'll be holding "We Will Be Heard" events in the states where senators hold the key to passing expanded background checks -- and there's one near you in New York. You'll get a chance to thank your senators for casting a vote in favor of background checks, and let them know you're standing with them in this fight. Join in here: What: We Will Be Heard event in New York Where: 780 Third Avenue (between 48th and 49th Streets) New York, NY 10017 When: Saturday, April 20th 12:00 pm ![]() As the President said yesterday: "...if action by Congress could have saved one person, one child, a few hundred, a few thousand -- if it could have prevented those people from losing their lives to gun violence in the future while preserving our Second Amendment rights, we had an obligation to try." The families of Newtown -- and every family shattered by gun violence -- demand it. OFA is standing right there alongside them.
