This Saturday: Help mark one whole year of inaction from the House

Organizing for Action
Joe --

Tomorrow, Friday, June 27th, marks one whole year since the Senate passed a bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform bill and sent it to the House.

Speaker Boehner and House leadership have done absolutely nothing with it.

That's why OFA supporters are organizing events in communities across the country this Saturday to make sure everyone knows exactly who is responsible for this year of inaction.

Can you make it out?

Here are the details:

What: Immigration reform event in Chicago

Every day that the bill doesn't move forward in the House, our country is losing $37 million. That adds up to more than $13 billion in the year since the Senate passed reform.

That's one big way to measure the cost of inaction.

Of course, we're not just losing money -- House leadership's failure to act is hurting families and communities. It's preventing innovation and keeping our economy from growing as fast as it should -- immigrants made up 13 percent of the population in 2011, but accounted for 28 percent of America's new businesses.

Those numbers are compelling, but they're not enough for Speaker Boehner.

Imagine how much growth we could see in this country if House leaders stopped making empty excuses.

The American people want to get this done -- that's why we're going to spend Saturday letting folks know just who's responsible for a year's worth of inaction.

We need everyone who cares about immigration reform to make sure their voice is heard.
