Microsoft flaw opened door to scammers, analysts say, 06/19/07:  Microsoft Tuesday fixed a bug in its Windows Live ID registration that let users deceptively register a false e-mail address.

Feds choose 10 vendors to secure mobile data, 06/18/07:  The U.S. government has awarded contracts to 10 software companies that meet its requirements for protecting sensitive information stored on laptops, handhelds and other mobile devices.

U.S. FTC warns of bogus e-mail containing spyware, 06/19/07:  A bogus e-mail message supposedly sent by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission contains spyware and targets corporate and banking executives as well as consumers, the FTC said Monday.

FTC looks for more victims of ChoicePoint breach, 06/19/07:  The U.S. Federal Trade Commission is looking for victims of a data breach at ChoicePoint announced in early 2005.

McAfee puts Total Protection 2.0 into beta, 06/19/07:  McAfee has released beta version of its next-generation Total Protection 2.0 consumer security software.

HP aims to snatch up SPI Dynamics, 06/19/07:  HP on Tuesday announced its intentions to acquire SPI Dynamics, a maker of Web application security assessment software and services, for an undisclosed amount.

Senforce adds encryption to endpoint security suite, 06/19/07:  Senforce on Monday announced a new version of its endpoint security suite that now features encryption.

Freebie Vista security tool from Check Point:  Check Point Software is giving away ZoneAlarm, a personal firewall for Vista. Check Point says this is the first firewall from a major vendor to use the Windows Filtering Platform API.
