Skype users don't buy outage explanation, 08/20/07: Ebay's explanation for last week's failure of its Skype communication service has left many users still wondering what caused the worst outage in Skype's five-year history. Skype: Network felled by Windows Update, 08/20/07: The two-day outage last week of Skype peer-to-peer VoIP services was triggered when users of the software installed Microsoft patches and rebooted their computers, which also serve as nodes in Skype’s network. Sore at Skype?, 08/21/07: As you’ve probably read ad nauseam, Skype had a major outage affecting users for about two days last week. Complaints are soaring across bulletin boards and blogs on the Web about the outage, which Skype says was caused by the high volume of logins when computers automatically rebooted after installing updates from Microsoft. Report: Avaya taking IP phone share from Cisco: Cisco is losing its grip of the Web phone market, while Avaya expanded its lead. Skype resumes service, 08/20/07: Skype announced late Friday that all users could now again log on to the VoIP service, marking the end of an outage that affected millions and lasted more than 48 hours. Skype outage continues, business users affected, 08/17/07: Almost 36 hours after a software problem caused widespread outages in eBay's Skype service, engineers continue to work to fully restore this extremely popular Internet telephony and instant messaging service, while many business users deal with work disruptions.
