Climate denial on parade in Congress

Organizing for Action
Joe --

This is actually hard to believe.

One month after President Obama laid out a bold plan to tackle climate change, the U.S. House of Representatives took action.

Yep -- they passed a bill to say that carbon pollution isn't a problem. Seriously.

Then, a committee in the House cast a vote to prevent the Environmental Protection Agency from limiting greenhouse gas emissions -- before voting to cut their budget by 34 percent.

Luckily, this bill doesn't have a prayer of making it through the Senate -- but there's no way the members of Congress who voted for this should be let off the hook.

Next week, as part of Action August, Americans from all walks of life will stand up in their communities to fight that very brand of climate change denial, including a national Day of Action on August 13th.

Will you make a commitment to be part of it -- and hold these House climate change deniers accountable?

Every single national academy of science around the world has been warning about the climate change threat -- but they're not alone. Last week, four former EPA administrators under Republican presidents wrote in The New York Times: "The costs of inaction are undeniable. The lines of scientific evidence grow only stronger and more numerous. And the window of time remaining to act is growing smaller: delay could mean that warming becomes 'locked in.'"

But so many in Congress are choosing to ignore the science.

They should be embarrassed -- and, if we all speak up and call them out, they will be.

This August, let's make the climate deniers feel the heat -- and let's make sure to thank those who are standing up for our environment.
