The gun lobby hopes you ignore this email

Organizing for Action
Joe --

It seems that we've ruffled some feathers.

When we announced that OFA supporters had organized a Day of Action to show all the grassroots support for gun violence prevention, the gun lobby went into overdrive to fight back. They called on their people to write letters, get on the phones, and do whatever they could to counter our organizing.

The gun lobby has shown they're willing to spend and do whatever it takes to try to drown out our voices -- and they've gotten pretty good at it. While we're working hard to reduce gun violence, they're working hard to shut us up.

Because people like you have shown their dedication on this issue, they're really starting to feel the pressure -- thanks. And that's exactly why we can't back down.

Donate $5 or more to support OFA today -- and let's fight back.

When nine in 10 Americans agree on something, you have to go to great lengths to make the issue controversial.

But that's what happened this spring in the effort to expand background checks for gun sales. The Senate couldn't muster the votes to stand up to the gun lobby -- even though about 90 percent of Americans (and a vast majority of NRA members) said they supported it.

That's not a coincidence. The gun lobby spends a lot of money, and they like to think they run the show on Capitol Hill.

The reason OFA exists is to make sure the voices of ordinary Americans are heard over powerful interests like that. They may have deeper pockets, but we know how to organize.
