How does climate change affect you?

Joe --

Last year, I went to Plainview, Texas, to talk about climate change.

Folks in Plainview are entering their fourth year of extreme drought conditions, with less than half an inch of precipitation so far in 2014.

In 2013, Cargill was forced to close the town's largest employer, a meat packing plant, because ranchers simply couldn't sustain the cows they'd been raising there for years.

I was shocked to see how these historic droughts have affected this one community -- it's a visceral reminder of why we must work hard to fight climate change.

Stories like the ones I heard in Plainview are an incredibly powerful tool in helping others see that it's time to act.

If you or your community has been affected by climate change, people need to hear about it. Take a minute and share your climate change story with OFA today.

I've been passionate about tackling climate change for a long time.

I was able to visit Plainview as part of a new TV series called "Years of Living Dangerously," which talks with folks about the ways climate change is already affecting our country.

In the first episode of the show we spend a lot of time in Plainview, and the news is devastating. Because droughts are more frequent and more severe, families dependent on agriculture have been left without options.

What we heard in Plainview, though, is just part of the story.

Wildfires, floods, hurricanes, and extreme storms are happening more and more frequently across the country as a direct result of our changing climate.

If we don't do anything to tackle this issue, it's bound to get much worse.

That's why people need to hear these stories, from real people, about how climate change is affecting lives.

Share your climate change story with OFA -- or ask a friend to share their own -- today:
