Saturday: Learn more about solar energy in Chicago

Organizing for Action
Joe --

President Obama's new EPA Clean Power Plan is a landmark event in the struggle against climate change.

This plan will reduce carbon pollution from existing power plants 30 percent by 2030 -- that's a big deal, and proof that none of us needs to wait for climate change deniers in Congress to come to grips with reality to make meaningful change.

There's a lot we can do in our own communities, too, by encouraging the growth of clean energy like solar power.

This Saturday -- on the longest day of the year -- OFA supporters are holding events in support of clean, local solar power across the country. It's a great chance to learn how to make progress on climate change at home.

There's an event in Chicago -- can you make it?

Here are the details:

What: #PutSolarOnIt event in Chicago

The most powerful climate change denier in the House, Speaker John Boehner, recently said he's "not qualified to debate the science behind climate change."

He gets points for honesty. But you don't have to be a scientist to know the facts. Here are a few:

-- Power plants are the single largest contributor of climate change-causing carbon pollution in America.

-- Solar power is one of the cleanest sources of energy out there, and we all benefit from the lower carbon emissions.

-- Solar energy is now cheaper and more popular than ever before. The cost of solar panels has dropped 75 percent in just six years -- and across the country, a new home or business goes solar every four minutes.

That's cause for celebration. And it's cause to keep making change, too.

Join supporters in Chicago this Saturday, and learn more about how we can all help make the move toward cleaner energy:
