That's amazing progress, but there's more to do to make sure the economy works for all Americans. It's time for Congress to do its part. Over 53 straight months of job growth, we've added nearly 10 million private-sector jobs to the economy -- and last month alone, more than 4.5 million job openings were posted -- that's a 13-year high. Whoa. New home construction is up more than 15 percent to an eight-month high, too. Of course, this is all reason to feel good that the economy is on the right track. But we need Congress to do its part when they come back from recess to help keep this momentum going. That's why we can't rest on our laurels. There are plenty of ways lawmakers in Washington can make a real impact: raising the minimum wage, ensuring equal pay for women, and keeping student loan debt from spiraling out of control are all a good place to start.
