Editors note: Joint Conversations is a monthly newsletter that is usually distributed around the middle of the month. That said, we are happy to present you with April's issue on Cinco de Mayo, which we are hoping translates to "better late than never".

While the legalization for recreational and medical cannabis use continues to happen in the USA, its citizens have found that they can purchase many alternatives from baked goods, drinks to concentrates. Meanwhile here in Canada an approved medical user can only smoke, vaporize or use it in food but only in its natural state, plant material. We are not allowed to legally change it through any processing method so it's whole plant material or nothing.

Government-funded propaganda machine D.A.R.E. duped by article on satire website


Washington Post- "Marijuana candies, sold on the street as 'Uncle Tweety's Chewy Flipper' and 'Gummy Satans' are taking the country by storm." That's the breathless opening sentence of a news story posted on the Web site of D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), the infamous anti-drug organization that sends police into schools to teach kids about the dangers of drug use.

Congress Denies Medical Marijuana for Vets

The GOP-controlled House has barely rejected a bid by supporters of medical marijuana to permit veterans to receive information about the drug from their government doctors. The 213-210 vote came on a failed amendment to a bill funding the budget for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The proposal by Oregon Democrat Earl Blumenauer would have lifted a rule blocking VA doctors from discussing the pros or cons of medical pot. Even if the restriction were lifted VA doctors still would not have been able to make recommendations for medical marijuana for vets.
