RETHINKING THE DATA SECURITY BOX
Computer security can be a difficult problem to get a handle on, so
sometimes it takes some creative thinking. I would say it involves
"thinking outside the box," but that's a little too trite and overused.

DELL GETS SLOPPY, LENOVO GETS FLOPPY
I was wandering through the cube farm at InfoWorld, whistling a happy
tune, when my surly yet suspicious editor cornered me in the hallway.
"You're smiling," he said. "What's up?" He was convinced I'd gotten a
better offer from that feline fella on the other side of the tracks. He
didn't buy my story about my rejuvenated love life, but he did offer me
a raise on the spot. I'm now making nearly $7 an hour. It just doesn't
get any better.

SECURITY IS NO SMALL TASK FOR SMBS
SMBs may have fewer employees than their Fortune 500 counterparts, but
the security threats they face often loom just as large. Tight budgets,
undereducated users, dated infrastructures, growing regulatory
pressures, and shrinking IT staffs pose the most common challenges. On
top of those, a proliferation of worms and viruses are successfully
penetrating SMBs in an increasing number of ways. Most evidence suggests
that security problems will only grow worse.

its revenue and profit forecasts for the April to June quarter, the
company said Thursday.
