NETFLASH: BREAKING NEWS FROM NETWORKWORLD.COM

By Jeff Caruso

You've got to read this bizarre story that keeps getting more
bizarre as we get more information. Cisco and ISS were supposed
to give a demo this week on a particular way to hack IOS - but
Cisco suddenly nixed the idea and even sent folks with razor
blades to the conference to cut the presentation out of the
conference materials. Then the ISS guy who was told not to give
the demo went ahead and did it anyway. He was fired. And then
there's the whole question of the U.S. Department of Homeland
Security's involvement in all this.

Lenovo leads effort to build 1,000 TFLOPS supercomputer

China's Lenovo Group has begun work on a project to build a
computer that is nearly 10 times more powerful than the world's
fastest supercomputer, a company spokeswoman confirmed Thursday.

Layoffs redux: CA cuts another 5% of staff

Computer Associates plans to cut 800 positions worldwide,
around 5% of its workforce, in a restructuring effort aimed at
saving $75 million annually. CA will finish most of the
worldwide layoffs by the end of 2005, the company said.
