Virus scanner bug cost Trend Micro $8 million, 07/14/05
Anti-virus software vendor Trend Micro Thursday said that a bug
in its own software that affected thousands of customers has
cost the company
$8 million. The issue has also forced it to lower its revenue
and profit forecasts for the April to June quarter.

DHS reorganization creates new cybersecurity position, 07/13/05

Oracle integrates Web services, security products, 07/13/05
Oracle plans to combine two of its Web services products to make
it easier for developers to set security policies for
applications built using its Oracle BPEL Process Manager
software, a company executive said Tuesday.

Sun Wednesday said it will open-source components of its Web

NIST reports on VoIP security, 07/12/05
VoIP technology digitizes sound and sends the data stream in
packets through the Internet. One would think at first that
normal network security technologies would suffice to protect
the packet stream against interference. Unfortunately, voice
transmission imposes timing constraints on the data stream; if
packets are not received quickly enough to ensure reconstitution
in the right order in real-time, people will perceive the sound
as distorted.
