| Joe -- After Newtown, most Americans felt a need to do something to prevent tragedies like that from happening again. Apparently not in Congress. We've lost more than 7,334 Americans to gun violence since Newtown, and our representatives in Washington are still more concerned with what the gun lobby wants than what an overwhelming majority of their constituents want. Thanks for committing to step up in your community as part of Action August. Here's one thing you can do today to stand up for gun violence prevention. Please share this graphic on Facebook and Twitter -- and ask Congress what it will take to get them to take action.
Take a step back and think about that -- this is common-sense legislation, and yet Congress isn't feeling enough pressure to get it done. How many more tragedies have to happen before they find their courage? We're holding events across the country this week to thank the members of Congress who've taken the lead in this fight, and demand that the legislators who have refused to stand up to the special interests take action now. Even if you can't make it out, you can be a part of this.
