Joe -- I just signed OFA's birthday card for President Obama, and I left a note, too. But to explain it, I need to tell you a quick story: When I worked at the White House, one of my top jobs was helping get health care reform passed. And four times, I had to walk into the Oval Office and say, "Mr. President, we just can't get health care done -- it's impossible." And each time, he looked at me and said, "Messina, we are going to get this done." Because he knew how important reform was to so many people -- and he wasn't going to stop until it was done. He's not president because he likes having his own theme music when he walks into a room. He's the real thing -- and he's in it, every day, for the right reasons. He's got about 1,200 days left to finish what he started -- and it's going to be our job to help make the most of every one of them. So here's what I wrote on his card: "Mr. President, happy birthday. Thanks for keeping up the fight -- even when it seems impossible. -JM" Sign his card, too, and let him know why you're in this: http://my.barackobama.com/Sign-the-Card-for-President-Obama Thanks, Messina Jim Messina Chair Organizing for Action ---------------- The other side will spend millions to maintain the status quo.
